xbox live indie game sales figures from 2009

XNA makes money?
“They” said it couldn’t be done.
“They” said it would never amount to much.
“They” appear to be wrong.
GamerBytes have posted the unofficial sales figures from the XBox-live indie game scene and (surprise, surprise) some teams are able to generate some returns for their efforts.
And kids, hang onto charts like this because they can be used to persuade your parents that spending all summer in your basement coding XNA might potentially net you far more than the minimum wage dead-end job at your local grocery store…provided of course that you’re serious about putting something together as opposed to using it as an excuse to play more Halo.
But the chart also provides us with more evidence that a “race to the bottom” in terms of pricing doesn’t help to generate further sales. 433,000 people had to try out “Avatar Drop” in order to get the 117,000 sales at $1.00. Meanwhile, further down the list is “ezmuze Hams3r edition” which only took 93,000 downloads to make $98,000 at a $10.00 price tag! THAT’s some good profit.
Don’t sell yourself or your work short. EVER.
